MONSTER fairbank morse engine That Shakes The Ground When It Runs
Running in Pottsville Oregon. Hard to tell from a video but this thing shakes the Ground when it runs..
probably It’s got a good beat and I can dance to it. 😛 That thing is an environmental disaster but the sound it makes is hypnotising. it’s got shit loads of torque!it blows smoke rings when it runs!
I think it’s cool that only 2 of the cylinders are firing at idle, and that all 4 start up at higher RPMs .When it gets down to minimal RPM’s it sounds like it’s talking to you saying “whistle something” , “whisper something’, or possibly “missile country”
the only reason this engine is running like this is the jackass playing with the throttle! these industrial engines were meant to be fired up, brought to temp and then run at a single rpm level! when ran correctly, they probably didnt smoke a bit! #2~ That smoke is`nt actually the pollution you might think it is! its mostly soot. an overcarbed V8 with a cyl or two down on compression, probably emits more actual pollution than this beast!
this is American ingenuity.this had to be built in order that we could have the innercooled diesels of today.mechanical evolution takes so long, think of the thinkers that had their heart in this in1932
They were used in cargo ships and tankers. They were also used as gensets for huge factories, small towns, they ran lineshafts and air compressors for mining outfits and machine shops, and…well, pretty much anything else you can think of.
