Steven SPIELBERG’s 1971 truck car Duel! INTENSE DEATH MACHINE

the truck is a 1955 Peterbilt 281 the engine is almost 400HP and this scene has been taken from the movie Duel (1971) you can assume a moral from it that Dont piss off truck drivers or they would chase you at 95mph. .

A film about a middle aged boy running away from society in order to unknowingly face his fears and become a man. I love how Weavers character makes the attempt to call the police in order to run away from becoming a man as well. The driver will not have this. He insists that this is our duel and no other shall enter. Richard Matheson was the real mind behind this film.It was sheer brilliance how Spielberg managed to convey claustrophobia in a wide-open desert space.  Truly creepy stuff.

The truck driver wanted to kill David Mann Because he was nuts and psychopathic and David pissed him off, and he decided to kill him as a result.. Throughout the whole movie I see the truck driver is just a symbol of David Mann’s greatest enemy, fear. If you watch the movie closely you’ll hear the man on the radio talking about how he is not the head of the family and the guy sounds like a real wimp. Mann calls his wife talking about how one of guys raping her because he wasn;t able to do anything about it. He couldn’t push the school bus so the kids laughed at him. He kept trying to get help. But no good. In the end, he finally learned to “Mann” up and conquer his greatest enemy on his own. And he did it!
